The Amber Heard Johnny Depp controversy became very popular back in the day. To date, it is a very hot topic. We all know Johnny Depp from his movies. He has starred in many blockbuster movies. He is most popular for his role in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean”. We will give a brief overview of the Amber Heard Johnny Depp conflict. 

Depp and Amber Getting Together

In October 2009, they first connected while filming “The Rum Diary”. Around the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012, they began dating. Later in 2014 People magazine reported their engagement. Amber Heard was seen wearing an engagement ring.

Moreover, Johnny Depp confirmed in an interview with The Daily Mail about their engagement.

The couple got married in 2015. They did not publicly announce their marriage. They exchanged vows in a small ceremony at their Los Angeles residence. Photos of their marriage were published by People magazine. 

Amber Heard Johnny Depp Divorce

On May 23, 2016, Amber Heard submitted a divorce petition. She claimed that while they were dating, Johnny Depp had physically assaulted her. She alleged that this would happen when he had either been drinking or doing drugs.

Before filing the divorce Amber Heard alleged on May 21 that she sustained facial injuries when Depp hurled his phone at her. However, when the situation was eventually looked into, it was discovered that no such offense had occurred.

The Johnny Depp verdict on all this matter was that all these accusations were not true. He said that Amber was making false accusations of abuse in an effort to obtain an early financial resolution.

Amber Heard claimed that she received $7 million from the divorce in sworn testimony at a deposition. However, she reportedly gave all of this to charity, as per People magazine.

The Amber Heard Johnny Depp divorce case was finalized after a year. 

Johnny Depp Suing Amber Heard for Defamation

The Amber Heard Johnny Depp story did not end here. In December 2018, Amber Heard penned an opinion piece for The Washington Post. She admitted to having been assaulted. She discussed how women are treated in cases of domestic abuse. In this op-ed, she also said that she rose to prominence as a symbol of domestic violence. She did not mention Johnny Depp. But it was obvious who she was targeting. 

As a result, Johnny Depp sued Amber in 2019. She was sued for $50 million for the article she wrote for the Washington Post (WaPo).

The Johnny Depp verdict on this was again that he never abused Amber. She was allegedly committing an immoral and unlawful act and not a victim of domestic abuse, according to the lawsuit.

Amber Heard continued to claim that was a victim of domestic violence by Johnny Depp. The suit went on for a long time. 

Amber Heard and Elon Musk Controversy

The controversy came to light when Johnny Depp claimed that she had affairs with Elon Musk and James Franco. Johnny Depp claimed that Amber Heard was having an affair with the CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk during their marriage. 

A video was also presented in front of the court where Amber Heard and Elon Musk were alone in an elevator. 

Amber Heard claimed that Elon Musk was just her friend. But later it was proved that she was dating Elon Musk.

Amber Heard filed Defamation against Johnny Depp

As an outcome of the defamation case of Johnny Depp against Amber Heard, Amber Heard filed a case against Depp. The defamation case of Johnny Depp was a multi-million dollar case. Amber Heard filed a defamation case against Johnny Depp.

It was later found out that attorney Adam Waldman acting on Depp’s behalf had defamed her once in his The Daily Mail article in 2020.

The Final Verdict of The Defamation Cases

The Amber Heard Johnny Depp defamation went a little long when proofs were provided by both sides. Several phone recordings and call recordings were presented in front of the court. Several points and proof were presented to the jury. 

After long trials, the jury concluded that Amber defamed Johnny Depp three times. Whereas Depp had defamed Amber Heard only once.

The final verdict of the jury was that it awarded Johnny Depp $10 million for the compensatory damages. Amber Heard was awarded only $5 million for punitive damages. Later, the punitive damages were reduced by $350,000 according to Virginia’s legal limit. 

Amber Heard Filed New Motion 

Heard’s lawyer told The Today Show that Amber will not be able to pay the damages that she owes to Johnny Depp. And they plan to appeal the verdict. 

Amber Heard filed a motion that a juror who was not summoned sat on the panel. But a judge denied her motion. But Amber Heard began the process of appeal regardless of the judge’s denial. 

Depp has just filed an appeal of the $2 million judgment in the countersuit for defamation against Amber Heard.
